F22. for 4 weeks, ive been having chest pain on the left side of my chest that gets worse when deep breathing and bending over. shortness of breath too. went to er 3 weeks ago, d-dimer & chest xray normal. could it still be a pe or something serious?

Unlikely. What you described is more consistent with Musculo-skeletal pain. Try taking acetaminophen, no more than 3 g in one day and no alcohol. Regular aerobic exercise may help by improving your muscle strength and flexibility. Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless.

I agree with Dr. S that your symptoms are more characteristic of rib cage or pinched intercostal nerve or muscle that runs between 2 ribs& aggravated by a deep breath. Negative d dimer is reassuring. Pleurisy or lung pathology doesn't seem likely either especially without cough,fever,shortness if breath when walking or with exertion. Get checked again by a pulmonologist if symptoms don't resolve
