This is relatively common, and baby may do the same thing off & on the first weeks after delivery. It is not considered a sign of problems with the pregnancy or baby.

Fetal diaphragmatic contractions ("hiccups") are common at 33 weeks and on to term. This does not indicate any distress for the fetus.
