If you are running longer distances, you could have a stress fracture. These are sometimes difficult to see on a normal xray, and may require an MRI. If the pain persists, I would recommend imaging and follow up with your doctor.

There are many structures as well as possibilities what you could have injured. You could have injured the plantar fascia which spans the bottom of the foot. If painful first steps in morning than most likely plantar fasciitis. A Podiatrist should be able to diagnosis and treat. Try and find a true sports medicine podiatrist.
