I had an mri post injury that showed complete mcl rupture, partial pol tear and partial tear of posterior medial meniscus root ligament. my question is, is the root ligament the same as what is more commonly referred to as meniscal root?

Yes. It typically is called the meniscal root. Unfortunately, this type of injury does not heal on its own.
