A member asked:

What does a high lactate dehydrogenase test indicate? mine was 283 but all other tests were normal. is this serious? thanks?

What is the reference range in your lab?. Up to 180 is considered normal in many labs. Since your LDH is borderline, & I assume all other metabolic lab tests normal & you have no known current diseases, I would simply repeat the LDH in a couple of weeks to ensure that it's not trending upward. . Does your MD agree?

It is impossible to interpret laboratory evaluation without knowing the clinical situation at the time that the labs were drawn. You should contact your Doctor Who ordered the tests for their interpretation of the lab tests. Good luck.
