A member asked:

Blood test showed lactate dehydrogenase 103 (reference 140-271). is this bad? severely fe deficient, trying to find cause.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

LD normal: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your LD level is normal and hemolysis of red cells is not a cause of anemia. I trust that you are taking oral iron supplement and multivitamins. Iron deficicency may be due to excessive menstrual blood loss, if so, see gynecologist
