High haptoglobin is: Nonspecific. Probably just a marker of illness in general. In severe anemia oxygen delivery to tissue is compromised and lactate could rise.

Can I possibly have hemolytic anemia with normal reticulocytes and ldh, but no haptoglobin, high mchc plus low alpha 2 globulin? Currently I have ITP and very low lymphocyte count. Symptoms include shortness of breath, SVT episodes, fatigue?
My haptoglobin level is elevated, at 2.65 g/L (ref. 0.17-2.00). Is this in and of itself a cause for concern (e.g. cancer)? I have also been experiencing low iron/hemoglobin/hematocrit for some time. Kidney/liver function normal. GI tract is clear.
