Dr says glaucoma caught early w/30% nerve damage & some peripheral vision loss. said w/out treatment could've been blind in 7 yrs. can go that fast?

Depends: It depends on many factors, but the general rule of thumb is that it the higher the pressure, the faster vision loss can occur. The goal of glaucoma treatment is to lower the pressure to the point that vision loss does not progress or slows to the point that you will never go blind during your lifetime.

Possible: It's always possible. Again, what's more important at this point is that you have regular follow-up with your ophthalmologist to ensure that the glaucoma is under control.
