That depends on the actual findings. The fingers have a complex attachment system that allows them to flex and extend at the various joints. A fracture may compromise one of the tendon attachments and lead to a permanent defect without surgery. It is best to have it x-rayed & reviewed by a doc who understands the issues involved.
