As I answered previously, this simple test causes mild discomfort when contrast is injected into the urethra before the X-ray taken so urologist can confirm there is no stricture or abnormal urethral finding as the cause of your symptoms. This is not a truly invasive procedure, it won't affect your sexual life or fertility so you should go ahead.

This test is not the first test to be done if burning is your only complaints. The test is done to check for narrowing or obstruction of the lower urinary passageway. You should start by having a urine exam. If the doc persists find another one. In the meantime drink plenty of water and avoid spices. Good luck
