There are many factors that would affect this-like how the injury occurred, what part of the head was injured, how easily the patient bleeds normally, presence of blood thinning medicines, etc. If someone has a head injury and then they develop new symptoms like increased sleepiness, confusion, increased headache, seizure, etc., they should go to the ER for re-evaluation.
