The rib cage has muscles that can spasm and cartilage that can become inflamed. Seeing your doctor and getting examined can be helpful to diagnose this. If you can tolerate NSAIDS like ibuprofen, that can be helpful to reduce inflammation. Best of luck to you.

If the pain is similar to the pain you had prior to having your gallbladder out, it is possible that you may have a stone present in your bile duct. You should see your doctor for an examination and for possible blood tests to help determine this. You may even need an ultrasound Examination of that area. Good luck.
