Stress can certainly lead to anxiety and give the sensation of your heart pausing, skipping beats, racing, etc. You should see your doctor to get your anxiety under control. If the palpitations continue, you may need to have this evaluated-may need an EKG or even a Holter monitor where your heart rhythm is monitored for a period of time. So, see your doctor ASAP for evaluation and treatment.

Your symptoms merit an evaluation by a cardiologist. A careful history, physical exam and tests, including blood tests of thyroid function, an electrocardiogram, an echocardiogram and a 24 hour Holter monitor test, can quickly determine the significance of these symptoms and help determine the appropriate treatment.
