Dr prescribed steroid for herniated disc6 day with taper. im worried about taking it bc it lowers your immune system and i have 2 kids that being germs home. how risky is it in an otherwise healthy person? how much does it lower immunity?

The short term use of steroids as described, has no significant effect on the immune system. The drug itself mimics a natural steroid produced by the body in small amounts daily as an ant-inflammatory agent.
