Shingles: What you may be experiencing is something called "post herpetic neuralgia", which is a condition that can occur after an episode of shingles. It is a nerve pain and generally takes time to get better. Can be days, weeks, months or in rare cases, years. The treatment of choice for nerve related pains is something called neurontin (gabapentin).
Created for people with ongoing healthcare needs but benefits everyone.

Referred pain: If you have hypersensitivity on the face of the are the tooth hurts, you may be having shingles in the face/skin and the pain referred to a tooth. Ask your dentist to do a teeth evaluation to see if you need a root canal and check the lymph nodes and skin from that area.

The description of pain was "toothache", not that the patient actually had pain at the tooth.
