When i take 40mg valsartan i notice my hand veins dilating in 30min and my face gets warm, within 12 hours this effect is completely gone. does the drug stop working within that time frame so it's basically useless the rest of the day?

Valsartan reaches a peak effect in about 6 hours but continues to produce blood pressure lowering for 24 hours. You're experiencing maximal dilation of arterioles throughout your body from 4-6 hours but its effect slowly decreases over the rest of the 24 hours. We still don't have the perfect blood pressure medication that only has one direct mechanism and remains at a constant level for 24 hours.
