A member asked:

What is the difference between the type of shock that people might experience after a non-life-threatening injury (i.e. a broken arm) and the shock that, left untreated, is deadly? why do they have similar symptoms, like feeling cold and clammy?

Emotional shock is a separate issue. You are frightened about what might have happened and numbed by the prospect. Medical shock is a condition where the blood flow to essential organs (heart/brain/kidneys) as well as the body as a whole is not adequate for sustained life. These are two widely different definitions for altogether different issues.
