I was diagnosed w/ bronchitis a week ago, and after taking 5 days of antibiotics, i dont have a cough anymore. however, now when i cough and phlegm comes out, i have to gasp for air for a few seconds. should i worry about an potential asthma attack?

What you described does not induce a concern for asthma. You may do steam/vapor inhalation to loosen the phlegm so that it is easier to expectorate. Drink enough water so that your urine is mostly colorless, to make sure that you are fully hydrated. Wish you good health!
