There is something wrong with your wrist if joint's range of motion is not limited by pain but you could not use your wrist as described. You need to have a wrist X-ray done.

Given the fact that you lost range of motion on your wrist and you had previous hardware inserted in same extremity, best will be to see your Ortho doc as imaging might be needed. Occupational therapy will definitely help once significant damage is ruled out or addressed.
