On nicotine gum for over 1 yr. started having uncomfortable fast heart rate lasting up to an hour & increased bp. quit gum 5 days ago. been monitoring bp & hr. have been great. no meds. today, resting hr is 57 & 58. is that to low? work at desk job?

Always double check pulse by counting at wrist for 60 seconds to validate your pulseometer. I would not use the gum this long. Discuss with Dr.

Heart rate below 60 is defined as bradycardia but it's not abnormal. We only concern when bradycardia causes symptoms such as lightheadedness, weakness, shortness of breath with exertion, etc. Heart rate below 40 is often abnormal. It's great to hear that you can break your habit of chewing nicotine gum.
