By the limited information you provide it seems that your shortness of breath is less likely due to bronchial asthma. If you do not have anxiety disorder, baseline arterial blood gases, pulse oxymetry at rest and ambulation & cardiac echocardiogram should be done. A cardiology evaluation should be considered. If you have been diagnosed with anxiety or panic disorder, you should see a psychiatrist.

Hyperinflated lungs are often erroneously diagnosed on a plain chest X-Ray. The gold standard for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is PFT & yours was normal. Unless you have episodes of bronchospasm, seen in asthma, shortness of breath while at rest but not with exertion can be from anxiety. If this pertains to you, consider stress management therapy. Your pulmonologist is best to advise you
