: It is conceivable that some superficial loss of the nerve root myelin covering or even the central axon damage occurred and this indeed can be the answer. This is best objectified if your doctor performs an EMG/ NCV study. Healing may take time depending upon the extent of compression prior to disk desiccation and shrinkage.
