A member asked:

In 2015 i was in a car accident where i experienced an extreme tbi where i needed a craniectomy and was in the icu 40 days. it been over 7 years and i am wondering if you think it would be fine for me to drink alcohol again?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Due to prior brain injury, you could be rather sensitive to the adverse effects of alcohol, and it is best you use only very small amounts, as this could worsen prior imbalance and incoordination, and compromise cognitive dysfunctions. Would not drive or do activities at heights. If you drink, do it within a sedentary setting initially and discuss it with your doctor.
