If someone has a traumatic brain injury and they drink and smoke weed what are the effects of these habits?

Clear thinking - NOT: We know what these do to normal folks - memory problems (perhaps more early on verbal for pot, and visual memory for etoh), but acutely it interferes. This is usually worse for tbi individuals who can look worse simply by being at higher altitude and lower o2 levels. Can take 6 months to wash out pot, but alcohol abuse can lead to further permanent damage in tbi survivors/ little to none is best.

Mindless choices: After a traumatic brain injury, you want to give your brain the best chance of recovery it can have. Throwing toxins on top of struggling neurons is not the thing to do! perhaps the injury has caused the person to lose his/her judgment, or his/her control of impulsive decisions? Hoping you are not this person -- and that if you are, you get help soon! brain cells need love too. Take care.
