Probably just normal accumulation of oral bacteria, food, and cells of the lining of your mouth. You might notice it less if you brush your teeth in the evening as well as in the morning.

Bacteria, debris from food and sugar and dead cells get trapped between the papillae which are your taste buds .As long as it goes away after brushing than no harm. If not than a number of causes are possible that need to be investigated. Leukoplakia, Oral lichen planus, Geographic tongue, Oral thrush, and Syphilis.
