A member asked:

My mri showed l5-s1 herniation after microdisecectomy the doctor told me it was not clinically significant herniation and that my leg pain was from previous disc herniation that compressed the nerve for long time is this really possible?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Relatively easy to sort out problems from one nerve root vs another by doing an EMG/ NCV study. A pragmatic way of handling this would be physical therapy and McKenzie Back Exercises over the next 3-4 months at a minimum. If the pain is too intense, a physiatrist could become involved.
