I am leery of accepting any diagnosis by a PT on issues dealing with the pelvis. The OBGYN is the expert. To get approval for an MRI by third party payers your doc puts their reputation on the line affirming necessity. If you feel it is important enough, consult another doc, preferably an OBGYN.

A simple x-ray is usually sufficient to rule out any occult fracture of the coccyx, but an MRI can be more definitive. In any case, even if there is a fracture found, treatment is limited to pain medication. Anxiety related contraction of pelvic floor musculature may cause aching pain in the lower GI tract area.
