My 90yo mother was taken to er with b/p of 240/112, no other symptoms. (she had a cold one week ago). her troponin level at time of adm. was 24. it has not been rechecked. shouldn't it be monitored?? her b/p remains elevated at 188/96?

If the number is high, there is almost a follow up check in eight hours. In case of severe hypertension such in this case, blood pressure should be brought down slowly so her last number is not that bad. Because she had a cold one week ago so I wonder if she took some OTC med which at times can cause accelerated hypertension.
