A member asked:

Dr i heard that hiv antigen appears few days or 2 weeks before antibodies produce so assume if i am making antibodies around 12 weeks then the antigen will be appears 2 weeks earlier, if i done 4th gen at 6 weeks then it will be false neg is it true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A negative result with a 4th combo test at 6 weeks indicates no HIV. However, HIV is only one of the STDs. A condom may not protect against HPV, Herpes, LGV, syphilis, pubic lice etc. It would be prudent to see your doctor for an evaluation.
