Can any cardiologist explain to me why i a 21 yr old male sometimes when falling asleep can feel my heartbeat and subconsciously focus on it and when all of the sudden its as if it feels like it stops beating and goes calm until i freak out and check?

I am not a cardiologist, but I can tell you that if your heart did stop beating your blood pressure would drop to zero and you would not wake up to check that your heart is still beating. You are fixated on something that is not happening.
