A member asked:

My doctor had my urine tested for a uti several days ago, but my test results came back today (saturday) through "quest". it appears i have a uti but i'm not certain... here is the result: "non-uropathogenic gram positive organism". thoughts?

The statement suggests the sample grew common skin contaminants, not germs known to cause UTI's. Please clarify this with the doc who ordered the test.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the organism is not a cause for concern. Wish you good health!
