I am having sore throat and running nose, so i went to pharmacist and he gave ciprofloxacin hydrochloride 500mg, is it the right treatment?

No: Sounds like you have a viral illness, and this will not be treated with a broad spectrum antibiotic. This is why pharmacists should not be dispensing meds without a doctor's orders. Would treat your symptoms with otc meds, gargle with saline, take acetaminophen. You will be better in a week with Ciprofloxacin and in 7 days without it.
