Evaluation: During a virtual consultation with Healthtap, you may upload a photo of your throat. You may need a culture for Strep and a blood test for mono. Both infections are associated with fever. In the absence of fever, an allergic reaction or local irritation is possible. Rinse with salt water, nasal saline and discuss the use of an antihistamine with your physician.
