Lumbar strain: Most back pain that occurs after labor epidural has to do with the lumbar strain that occurs from pushing during labor. Pain from the epidural needle should not last more than a few days.

Thanks for asking!: Back pain usually does not last after epidural. Chronic back pain is extremely uncommon vs headache which could occur in one out of a hundred patients.
