A member asked:

I keep googling "empty follicles" but don't find any info outside the setting of ivf/assisted fertility. is this only an issue with stimulated cycles? also if baseline lh levels are high would this prevent follicle rupture/release? aside from "lufs"

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"High baseline levels of LH" may prevent ovulation (rupture of follicle, whether or not a fertilizable egg is within), but at "age 42" eggs are reduced in sometimes multiple physiologic capacities to sustain fertilization and ongoing normal progress of fertility. Obtain a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist for a discussion on methods to achieve fertility at this point.
