A member asked:

I have hyperventilation syndrome and so presumably i have respiratory alkalosis (cant find a test for it) - constant face numbness light-headedness, agitated. i am due to fly to 4000m from delhi. would that put me in danger due to vasoconstriction ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Simultaneous blood gasses and blood electrolyte tests can verify any respiratory alkalosis. The pattern can drop free calcium levels and result is some odd symptoms like those described. I wouldn't worry about a flight in a pressurized commercial aircraft, but I would check with your doc to be sure.
