A member asked:

Every time i yawn (if i breathe in deeply) i get a sharp pain in my chest and i start coughing a lot. it then feels like i can't breathe even though i still can. that has been occurring daily for about 8-10 years now?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A pinched intercostal nerve or muscle that runs between 2 ribs can cause that type of pain but not a true cough. After all those years there shouldn't be any serious pathology but I wonder if you've had chest xrays or CT scan to investigate these symptoms.
