A member asked:

Had surgery yesterday to repair two damaged tendons in my rt pinky finger. keeping it elevated, but still experiencing uncomfortable swelling. how long does swelling typically last after this type of surgery and on which days is it usually the worst?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I would expect some degree of swelling &,discomfort to last 7-10 days with postop days one& two the most noticeable and then gradual lessening. Even after that motions of those fingers will cause discomfort. The hand surgeon will give directions about activities, physical & occupational therapy during your postop evaluation.
