See hepatologist: Ultrasound is not a sensitive measure of fatty changes in the liver. The gold standard is liver biopsy, but ct and MRI can be used to quantify fat in the liver. Given that you have elevated cholesterol, you may need to triglycerides also. Diet and weight loss may be helpful, but medications may also be necessary.
