Cancer Centers have hematologists and oncologists. A hematologist would be appropriate to evaluate anemia. You may wish to call your referring doctor to ask if s/he had any thought of cancer. Almost certainly not the case, but it may be reassuring to hear it from your own doctor.

When the treatment for anemia required parenteral medications such as intravenous iron or bone marrow stimulation medication, you will be referred to a cancer institute where the hemato-oncologists practice and those drugs are commonly delivered there. Or if the etiology of anemia is undefined, these doctors are also the ones who do the works-up.
