Vaccinations and boosters do not decrease your chances of contracting COVID... they decrease your chances of hospitalization and death from the complications of COVID. The way I read it is that people that are vaccinated and boosted tend to rely on the vaccine and may expose themselves more than people that are unvaccinated or boosted making them prone to get the infection as the vaccine is not protecting against getting the infection. The advise is to keep using the mask and avoiding crowds even for boostered.
