A member asked:

Is it safe to take citalapram if i have a heart murmur?

Just having a heart murmur alone may not be a problem , but it is better to have it checked by the cardiologist as this drug can cause problems with the QT interval and a slow heart rate.

A benign heart murmur is not a contraindication to citalopram. However, the side effect profile of citalopram should be discussed with your prescriber and/or pharmacist and understood in the context of your condition, other medical conditions and treatment.
