Catching food in your swallow tube can scrape the membrane and leave a sore area that feels like something remains, or trigger spasms when you try to eat/drink. GERD by itself can trigger the same type of sore or spasms. It would be wise to discuss this with your doc and decide on a management you understand. Avoiding caffeine or laying down after feeds is important if symptomatic.
