You need aggressive treatment for GERD with antacid liquid (Mylanta) around the clock in the first week along with proton pump inhibitor high dose (prilosec, prevacid, nexium, etc) for months + raising the head of your bed up for about 10 inches + do not lie down within 2 hours after a meal. If the gastric acid is reduced with combined drugs, the regurgitated fluid won't hurt you.
