A member asked:

I have muscle cramping and tetany. my blood test says i have low ionized calcium, and my random urine test showed elevated calcium. what can be causing this and can this be causing my muscle cramping and tetany?

I assume you don't have chronic kidney disease. Muscle cramping can occur with low ionized calcium. High urinary calcium levels are usually seen with high serum calcium levels. An endocrinologist is best to sort out this pattern for you.
