A member asked:

I have symptoms of muscle cramping and tetany all over my body. i had a random urine test done and my albumin levels were just over 310 mg/l., normal level is 30 mg/l or less. can this loss of protein be causing these symptoms?

If all of this is new and you are not a diabetic with known kidney disease, you should go to the ER or see your doctor right away. Dehydration is the usual cause of cramping, and spilling that much albumin in your urine will dehydrate you, but you may also have rhabdomyolysis, where a breakdown of muscle tissue releases myoglobin into your blood which can cause acute irreversible kidney damage.
