My dad has asthma and i have severe eczema. i never feel like i can take a breath that fills my lungs all the way up. it's like there's some resistance when i try. is it worth getting tested for asthma?

Asthma is a disorder with a heavy genetic input. Those with eczema are part of the spectrum of allergy/immune related disorders that include asthma. I think is is quite reasonable with your cited symptoms that you have a full evaluation including lung function studies. Even if you are not full blown asthma, you may have a lesser variant,

Asthma is one possible condition to consider. Eczema and a family history increase your likelihood of developing asthma. Avoid smoke, triggers including dust,mold,pollen and pet dander. A Pulmonary referral. Watch for shortness of breath. Consult w HTMG is available.

Seek a PULMANOLOGIST for a pulmonary function test. This will reveal many data as to inhaling and exhaling functions. A chest x-ray may be needed as to see if lungs are in good condition. Previous COVID infection or some scarring could be present.
