I was sure i had herpes but my blood test and my bfs blood test both came back (-). we were told by a nurse practitioner that it was herpangina. we both had presence of sores on our genitals but have oral sex. could this manifest genitally?

Some basics: HSV (Herpes simplex virus) PCR assay is the preferred test for detecting HSV from sores on genitalia. Herpangina manifests as small blistery lesions inside the mouth and is often associated with fever and caused by Coxsackie virus.

Herpangina means literally pain from herpes . Oral sex can transmit HPV to vagina and penis if there is virus in oral cavity
