No: Inhaled steroids are extraordinarily safe and effective for asthma. Hoarseness and throat irritation are the most common trouble with this class of drugs, and these problems can be avoided by using a spacer (for metered doses inhalers) or just rinse and gargle (for dry powder inhalers). Talk with the doctor who provided the prescription to see what else might be causing your problem.
