A member asked:

Would a diaphrame help prevent/eliminate acute vaginitis? i'm 36yrs old and every time i have sex, i get bv? i'm super clean before and after. my partner as well. any advice? i'm at the point of wanting a hysterectomy?

A diaphragm will not protect against acute vaginitis, and neither will a hysterectomy. Introduction of organisms which cause "BV" or other types of acquired infections in the vaginal canal are related to external sources of bacteria, yeast and viral infectious agents.
